There’s a lot of news and noise in our country right now and we know it can feel confusing. Here are 4 things you can do right now to learn more about what’s happening.
- Seek out reliable news.
- Read and share news from unbiased sources such as the Associated Press, Reuters, NPR, or PBS NewsHour.
- Check the bias of your favorite news at Media Bias/Fact Check.
- Fact check your political news at FactCheck.org or PolitiFact.
- Learn about fascism.
- Watch The Fascist Social Contract, a 30-minute workshop by UMKC historian Andrew Stuart Bergerson, who studied how everyday people fell in line with the Nazis.
- Read On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century by Timothy Snyder, a how-to guide for resisting tyranny. (It’s short!)
- Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
- Watch How to Talk to Your MAGA Aunt, a 30-minute workshop with tips on how to approach these uncomfortable conversations.
